Take inspiration from everything. Films, books, poetry, sounds.
Tune into what surrounds you, what you notice, and what stays with you.
Could it be family, friends, yourself?
For example, I am inspired by music, I find inspiration in song lyrics, videos, albums, and the way it makes me feel and channel that into designing.
Heal your inner child.
You owe yourself as a child the space to heal.
Tap into what you enjoyed as a child to find new and authentic inspiration.
As children, our imagination was limitless, we were not bound by judgment and could dream of endless potential.
Lean into your intuition and Search for Authenticity.
Gut instinct kept our ancestors alive, the ones who didn’t listen to their guts do not have a lineage. It is important to listen to your intuition.
Meditation and keeping a journal can help with intuitive thinking.
Search for authenticity with your gut. Intuition tells you what is for you and what isn’t.
Keep a journal and write down interesting things.
Keep a small notebook to write down things that you encounter in your day-to-day to reflect on later.
We consume so much all day, so much so that we may forget things we are inspired by, so write it down.
Tell your own story or be an observer.
Be a respectful observer and honour the narrative you are inspired by. I think with all the discussion surrounding cultural appropriation, people are afraid to approach something they are inspired by but are not part of. However, a story must be told and it may be crucial for you to get the story out there. The most important part is your intention and approach, put aside the ego and choose to honour the story, warts and all.
